Father Sam will share some of his recipes/techniques while attendees will participate in the preparation and then taste the foods prepared. Each week’s recipe connects with a topic about faith.
Week 1 – Simple tomato sauce, potato gnocchi – family stories of faith: who taught you to pray; what is your favorite prayer or way to pray?
Week 2 – Chicken piccata, fennel and orange salad – the Exodus event is pivotal if we are to understand the Mass; what questions do you have?
Week 3 – Pasta with chickpeas, turkey meatballs – everything you wanted to know about seminary formation, the religious life and priesthood; what drives a person to seek this vocation?
Week 4 – Spaghetti alla puttanesca, mushroom crostini – who is your favorite figure from Church history, or someone you wish you knew more about, not counting Jesus? Learn something more about our ancestors.
Week 5 – Bread making, little pizza – the Eucharist is the “source and summit” for Catholics; what exactly does that mean and how can you deepen your devotion to the sacramental presence of Christ?
The topics will not be lectures as much as conversations, with input sought from the participants, sharing stories and taking delight in God’s abiding presence among us.
